t making people smile. Whether he’s showing off his full-body tail wag, chasing bugs in the yard, or playing a spirited game of rough-and-tumble with his foster siblings, Noodle brings joy wherever he goes. Noodle is a social butterfly through and through. He loves people — and assumes every human is a potential new best friend. He’s great with other dogs, is sometimes curious about the resident cats but easily redirected, and does well with children. Like most puppies, he’s still learning to manage his excitement and can forget not to jump or nibble, but with gentle guidance, he’s making great progress. This clever boy is both crate trained and nearly fully potty trained — just keep an eye out for his cues. He sleeps quietly through the night in the crate. During the day, if he thinks he’s missing out on fun, he may fuss briefly before settling in for a snooze. Noodle is food-motivated and eager to please, which makes training a breeze. He already knows sit, stay, down, shake (with both paws!), and “go to your crate.” With a moderate-to-high energy level, Noodle thrives on daily exercise and playtime. He enjoys going for walks and generally walks well on the leash. He’s agile, athletic, and has shown a fun interest in beginner agility – he’ll go over jumps and through tunnels like a natural! Once he’s gotten his zoomies out, he’s all about the cuddle life and will happily curl up beside you on the couch. Noodle doesn’t require a fenced yard or a dog buddy to be happy, but he’d definitely enjoy having a canine sibling to romp within a fenced yard. He rides well in the car and just needs a little encouragement to hop in on his own. Still a puppy at heart, Noodle is full of potential, personality, and affection. He’s looking for a forever home where he can keep growing, keep learning, and keep making you laugh every single day. He’s ready to take on the world with you, join in on every adventure, and be your loyal sidekick for life! Interested in making Noodle part of your family? Contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at .freedomgermanshepherdrescue. Noodle is being fostered just outside of Charlotte, NC.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
