Staffy/Husky/Corgi Mix | Low Rider with a Big Heart Meet Scottie, a 5-month-old Staffy/Husky/Corgi mix weighing around 20 pounds. With her soft white and tan coat, expressive eyes, and short little legs, this “low rider” pup is as adorable as she is endearing. Scottie is a sweet girl who can be shy when meeting new people or experiencing new things, but once she feels safe, her affectionate and playful personality shines through. Scottie is almost fully house trained and doing well with structure and routine. She walks nicely on leash and isn’t reactive to other dogs or distractions, though she can be a bit random at times as she’s still learning. She’s not using a kennel at the moment and prefers to sleep close to her foster or snuggled up with her sister, Rowan. She’s a social pup who adores other dogs—especially small and medium-sized ones—and can often be found wrestling or playing tug-of-war with her sister. Scottie also coexists peacefully with cats; she initially barked at them, but after a few gentle swats, she learned her lesson and now leaves them alone. While she hasn’t met very young children yet, she has done well with kids 10 and up. With patient, dog-savvy adults and respectful children, she’ll continue to build her confidence and trust. Scottie can be a little stubborn at times, but she’s highly motivated by food, toys, and affection, which makes her a great candidate for continued positive reinforcement training. Scottie enjoys walks, playtime, and chewing on bones, and happily curling up for a nap once she’s had her fun. She’s sweet, easygoing, and full of potential, just waiting for the right family to help her grow into her best self. Scottie would thrive in a loving home, ideally with another friendly dog to show her the ropes and help her feel secure. With her short legs, big heart, and gentle spirit, this little low rider is ready to bring love, laughter, and plenty of cuddles to her forever family. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogsarrcolorado for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: arrcolorado/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
