and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue:8/16/25 Reason for being in rescue: Rick was found as a stray and landed at a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Rick is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 10/10/25 Rick had a dental polishing. Rick has a collapsed chamber in one eye from a prior corneal rupture. It has been examined by our veterinarian and determined the eye is non-visual and non-painful. Under veterinary guidance, we have elected not to remove the eye prior to adoption. His future family may elect to remove this eye in the future. Rick was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Our best guess is that he is a poodle mix. We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 13.5 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 - This adoption fee will be increasing effective 11/01/2025. Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? This sweet boy is looking for a calm, predictable home where he can feel safe, loved, and understood. Rick thrives on routine — he finds comfort in knowing what to expect each day and prefers a quiet environment without too much hustle and bustle. Rick enjoys the company of other dogs and would be happy to share his space with a kind, respectful canine friend. However, he’d also do well as an only dog with an adopter who can give him time, structure, and affection. If you enjoy peaceful mornings, steady days, and cozy evenings, Rick will fit right in by your side. What is my personality like? Meet Rick, a gentle and loving Poodle mix with a heart as soft as his curls. Rick’s life hasn’t always been easy. He came to us as a stray with a severe eye infection that, despite treatment, left one of his eyes slightly damaged. But don’t let that discourage you — Rick doesn’t let it slow him down one bit. His resilience and gentle nature are truly heartwarming, and his story will melt your heart the moment you meet him. Rick can be a little nervous in certain situations, especially in the car — rides are still scary for him. A patient adopter who can offer calm reassurance and compassion will help him learn that car trips can lead to good things, like walks, adventures, and cuddles at home. He walks decently on a leash already, but a little refresher training (and some gentle encouragement) will help him gain even more confidence. Rick may need time to adjust to his new surroundings and learn your household routine, but once he feels secure, his sweet and loyal nature will shine. With his tender heart and touching backstory, Rick is ready to find a forever home where he can finally relax, settle in, and know he’s safe for good. If you’re looking for a quiet, loving companion who will reward your patience with endless affection, Rick is waiting to steal your heart — and a spot on your couch. How do I act when I first meet new people? Rick has a quiet confidence. He won't bound into a room, but his gentle demeanor is sure to quickly steal your heart! Other tips and tidbits: Rick was found as a stray; we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 8 years old. We celebrate his birthday 08/18/2017. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
