y in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 10/16/25 Reason for being in rescue: Maggie was found as a stray and taken in by a caring citizen. Unfortunately, that individual wasn't in a position to care for her, so she reached out to rescue for help. Foster location: Foster Home in Garner NC Special Needs? Maggie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Maggie was found as a stray. We have absolutely no history on her pre-rescue. We cannot guarantee that she is hypoallergenic or that she won't shed. However her foster mom, who is an experienced standard owner, says she is not shedding with her. Weight: 37 lbs Height: 23 in at the shoulder est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $725 - This adoption fee will be increasing effective 11/01/2025. Fence needed? Maggie would benefit from her own private yard and would do better with that but with the right active home, she could go to a home without a fenced in yard. Action is the key for Maggie. What kind of home would be best for me? Maggie's ideal home will understand the poodle personality - active, inquisitive and intelligence wrapped up in a beautiful set of black curls. Maggie would love a playmate as happy to lucky and ready to rumble as she is (see the video of Maggie with her foster brother.) Maggie's new brother or sister needs to be a confident dog who can tell the puppy no when she needs to hear no but also keep up with her boundless zest for life. If you do not have another dog, Maggie needs doggie day care a minimum of two days per week to help keep her balanced and happy. Maggie's favorite human needs to also be confident as a dog owner. Maggie is a boundary pusher as are many young poodle girls. They love to see what they can get away with. But, with gentle and common-sense boundaries, she thrives. She is bright and she wants to do the right thing. It's up to you to let her know what the right thing is. What is my personality like? We suspect whoever lost Maggie spent a lot of time with her at first. She is great in the car, and she is crate trained. We're working on leash training and she seems to know leash walking, but she does pull a bit mostly from excitement. She is great with other dogs at doggie day care. Maggie knows sit and down. She is learning recall from her foster brothers, but she does not know that yet on her own. She loves people and will be a velcro dog - until that pesky squirrel runs by. Let's face it, distractions are hard when your still a baby and at just a year old, Maggie is very much still a very young dog. How do I act when I first meet new people? Maggie likes people. She is friendly and happy with newbies. Other tips and tidbits: Maggie was found as a stray so her actual birthday is unknown. We believe she is around a year old based on her overall body condition and her behavior. We've chosen the birthdate of 08/30/24 as Maggie's start date in the world. This birthdate is an estimate. We do not know her actual birthdate. Maggie was found as a stray and taken to a local shelter. From the shelter, she was adopted by an older owner who tried but, living in an assisted living facility and trying to keep up with Maggie's energy was more than she could do. Maggie started expressing her frustration with the lack of activity with house training accidents. Day care helped but was not enough and the owner realized that love was not enough to keep Maggie happy. Maggie needed energy and activity. She reached out to rescue to help find that for Maggie not because she did not want her but because she loved her and recognized she was not right for her. That is an ultimate act of love. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
