y in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue:12/8/2024 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release to a SC animal shelter, owners stated they could no longer care for her Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Jolene is spayed and up to date on vaccines. When Jolene arrived, she had several medical issues including heartworms and a broken leg that had been broken for at least 2 years. She was treated for heartworms and is now heartworm negative. Her leg has been repaired as best as it could be, but she still limps and lifts the leg to tuck it out of the way when she runs. She may always do this. She has been cleared by her veterinarian to find a home. Weight: 46.9 lbs Height: 22 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? No - Jolene loves to run and needs a place where she can run and romp off leash several times per week, but she does not need so much exercise that she would require a fenced in yard. She would greatly benefit from leash walks because when walking at the slow pace a human does, she puts her leg down and this will help the muscles that had been long unused because of the unfixed break strengthen. She is not a flight risk at all and sticks close to her human. Here at her foster home, she loves to roam our back acreage off leash with her foster siblings, and she always comes when called. What kind of home would be best for me? Sweet Jolene is seeking a home that will shower her with love and lots of time, lots of slow, meandering walks and tons of attention. She adores people and wants to be in the middle of All The Things all the time! She would do well as an only dog and also enjoys the company of other canine friends and would do well with buddies. She is not a player with other dogs although she will run and romp with her buddies. Jolene wants to go on vacation with her people and sleeping in the bedroom is non-negotiable. She currently has her own cushy chair that she curls up in right next to her foster mom. Jolene's back leg was badly broken when we got her. It's taken months, several surgeries and then follow up procedures, and a lot of patience to get her to this point. She will always limp, but she has no animosity towards those who did not fix what was wrong until we did and she is eager to move forward with the rest of her life. Please do NOT feel sorry for Jolene. She happily goes on 1 mile off leash romps through our woods. That means the human is walking a mile and the dogs do about 4 as they do zoomies around their human. Jolene has no idea that bad things happen to her and she has put them all behind her and is ready for her next adventure. Jolene is a multiple person dog and will love a single person or an entire family unconditionally. People are simply very cool and she loves us all. What is my personality like? Sweet, friendly, intelligent, inquisitive. Loving and affectionate without being overbearing. How do I act when I first meet new people? Do you have treats - You do, great! You don't, well I will love you anyway! Other tips and tidbits: 12/8/2018 is Jolene's estimated birthdate. We do not know her actual birthdate. House trained? In her foster home and on our schedule, Jolene is house trained. She is given access to a fenced in yard at least 6 to 7 times per day for anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. She always goes outside here. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
