and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 10/01/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Andrew was surrendered to CPR from his family. He ate a blanket and when quotes to save his life ran far out of the family budget, they turned to CPR for help. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Andrew arrived in rescue with an intestinal blockage after eating part of a blanket in his home. 2 surgeries later, he has recovered. Andrew does not shed. He is a first generation mix however so some allergy sufferers may not be able to be around him. Weight: 9.8 lbs now - he is a slim little boy but has a lot of growing to do. We think he'll hit about 12 lbs eventually but only time will tell for sure Height: 10 in at the shoulder est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Andrew has been an only dog his whole life but recently, while in foster care recovering from his surgeries, he's discovered the joys of having canine friends. He and Destiny (a sweet little pom mix) are BFFs. While he could be adopted as an only dog, we think he would also enjoy a playful companion. He has had kids in his home and did well with them also, but he loves to snuggle with his foster dad (in his 70s) also. He follows foster dad to bed at night and sleeps on a dog bed on his side of the bed. Andrew likes people and it shows. Andrew will make himself a part of a lot of different scenarios. He's versatile. What is my personality like? Andrew came to CPR after having eaten a crochet blanket. It is called a "linear foreign body" and that is so much worse than other foreign bodies because the strings and fibers in the blanket can stretch through the entire GI tract. After the first surgery to remove the blanket, Andrew continued to decline and had to go through a second surgery. He had developed adhesions in the intestines (a not unexpected side effect of obstruction surgery) and those had to be repaired. He came through it all and is now ready for a home. Andrew does NOT show a tendency in his foster home to eat things. We do not know what happened. Had perhaps something yummy been spilled on that blanket that made it better than most. We just do not know. Andrew is a tad bit shy, but we also know we've put him through a lot of medical work (two surgeries to correct his obstruction, and then a neuter). He is a quiet dog, and a go with the flow kind of fella. Even when he is fully recovered, we do not anticipate this changing. He's easy going. How do I act when I first meet new people? Somewhat indifferent at first but he warms up quickly. Other tips and tidbits: Andrew's birthday is 12/19/2024 according to his pre-rescue vet records. He acts and looks exactly that age. House trained? Andrew is doing well with house training in his foster home. He is not perfect but with reminders and a new schedule that is stable and with all this medical work behind him, we think he will do very well. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
