quo;ve seen steady improvement each day as he begins to settle in and feel safe. While he still growls or barks at most people (except me — I must’ve earned some brownie points during grooming!), he’s starting to show glimpses of the sweet, playful pup hiding beneath the fear. Wiggles isn’t the easiest dog to approach, and he does require a calm, patient person who understands the value of going slow and letting trust build over time. He can be reactive toward older dogs in the home, so he’s closely supervised when he’s out of his crate. But here’s the magic part — when he feels safe, Wiggles starts to shine. He prances around just like a classic Shih Tzu, full of quiet joy and charm. Though still reserved around strangers, he’s slowly coming out of his shell and gaining confidence. He seems to be mostly housebroken, which tells us he may have lived inside at some point. He absolutely loves head and back scratches, and he melts a little more each time he’s reassured that he’s safe and loved. Wiggles isn’t ready to trust everyone yet, but he’s getting there — and for the right person, he’s going to be an incredibly rewarding companion. With patience, love, and a steady hand, this sweet boy will learn that everything really will be okay. He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for his age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Wiggles is currently being fostered in South Carolina.
