and matching pale grey-brown eyes, this handsome boy is as striking as they come! Don’t be fooled by his strong, muscular build - Papi is a total cuddlebug who loves leaning in close for ear scratches and affection. Originally adopted as a puppy in 2022, he’s back at the shelter and hoping this time he’ll find his forever family. Papi is smart, well-mannered, and ready to impress - he’s leash-trained, potty trained, and knows all the basics like sit, stay, and shake! While he’d shine as an only dog, he’s also shown friendly, playful behavior with other pups and after proper introductions, could do great with other confident canine companions. Come add this sweet boy to your family today! ✨ -3 year old fawn Pitbull -63 pound neutered male -up to date on all shots and preventatives, so ready to go home with you today! -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 9/22/25 as an owner surrender - but we have no notes and no idea why, as Papi is the goodest of boys! -sleek and striking, with a velvety, uniquely fawn colored coat and pale, grey-brown eyes to match - this boy is definitely a looker! -don't let his muscular build scare you - Papi is made for all the cuddles -while he's a bit independent, he loves company and will lean in close for ear scritches -looking for a forever home that will love and cherish him exactly as he deserves - he was originally in the shelter as a puppy in 2022, then adopted, but was unfortunately returned -while the shelter recommends he be the only dog in the home, we have seen him have appropriate, playful, and friendly interactions with other pups here at the shelter - he does have a dominant personality, so would do best with other confident dogs, and with careful intros and a bit of supervision, he could make an excellent pet sibling to doggos you may already have! -the perfect package deal - in addition to his winning personality, Papi is great on leash, potty trained, and knows all the basic commands, like sit, stay, and shake PAPI’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/9UcJIpG-nsU For more information, contact volunteer Lisa at lisaaunitedhopeforanimals ------- United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
