Mutt Dogs For Adoption in Webster, WI, USA

Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). This sweet boy hasn't had the best luck- he's been adopted and returned to the shelter twice now over the course of a year. The first was due to aggression to

wards the cats in the home and not liking the kids, and second because of housetraining issues that the adopter wasn't willing to work on. King came to us as a transfer from another over populated rescue. He is an approximately 4 year old, almost 55 pound, Shepherd mix, so he is the perfect combo of loyalty, and security! He is one of the most quiet, and mellowed mannered young gentlemen we have here! He is very friendly and really strives for love and affection. He needs a little bit of work on manners, as he sometimes likes to jump on you and give you a few smooches. He loves going on walks and walks nicely on a leash, rides nicely in the car and absolutely adores sitting with his humans. Really Young kids make him a little uneasy and nervous, so older kids 10 plus would make him feel more comfortable. He gets along great with submissive male dogs, and any female dog we've introduced him to, though he can be a bit nosey (pun intended) with the ladies. Like all new pets, he will need time and patience to help acclimate to a new home setting and he also needs some boundaries established. His previous Foster Home said he settled in nicely after about a week, and then starts following you around! He is looking for a home where he could be "King" of the castle. He is quite the diamond in the rough. He is a loyal sweet dog, and would make a great couch potato, and Velcro dog! His random zoomies are fun entertainment, and it’s almost like he is playing ”ring around the rosie” or “duck duck goose”. He has been in our care for just over a year. 365 days. He needs his hero to come save him! You want loyalty? ✅ Protection- he’s got you! Derpy-ness ✅ His goofiness really shines through out and about! *Reasons to adopt a black dog 1) Hair doesn't show up on dark clothes 2) Black is slimming 3) Black is chic and always in fashion 4) They're always ready for a formal occasion 5) They're easy to accessorize If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application. Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together! All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. If you have a dog currently, you should bring him/her along to meet the new dog so we can see how everyone interacts. Please visit our website for additional information. The online application can be found at :hsburnettcty/adoption-guidelines/

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
