Foster Home Feedback 11/12/25 Foster Feedback:Meet Aries – the sweetest little star ready to shine in her forever home. Aries is a young pup with a gentle heart and a joyful spirit. She is both kennel and house trained, and she’s already learned “sit” and has a surprisingly good recall for her age. She loves to learn and is eager to make her people proud. We are currently working on a few more basic commands — she’s a smart girl and picks things up quickly. Aries absolutely adores children and is happiest right in the middle of family life. When she gets excited, she can get a little bouncy and mouthy, but she listens well to redirection and is learning quickly what calm greetings look like. She really just wants to be included and loved. On walks, she does pull a bit, but she also loves exploring the world and enjoying time outside. With practice and consistency, she’ll settle into a great walking buddy. She doesn’t bark much — usually just to invite another dog to play — and she has a sweet, soft presence in the home. Aries currently lives with both a dog and a cat. She doesn’t bother the cat, even though the cat has made it clear that friendship is not on the table. She is also respectful and appropriately playful with other dogs. She would do well in a home with or without other pets, and she would be an especially great companion for families with children. Some of the best things about Aries: The softest ears you’ll ever pet Loves tug of war and is learning to fetch Curious but not reactive — she observes before she overwhelms Loving, affectionate, and loyal Aries would thrive in a home that can offer her some outdoor space to play, such as a backyard. She is still young and will blossom with a little guidance, patience, and lots of love. In return, she will give you her whole heart. She is going to be a wonderful dog — the kind that becomes family. If you’ve been looking for a companion who is fun, sweet, and absolutely full of love, Aries may be the one you’ve been waiting for. 10/21/25 Foster Feedback: Aries is getting along really well with our 100 pound Saintberdoodle. She has seen the cat and was unreactive. Our cat is not yet trusting of the puppy so she keeps her distance and has plenty of places to hide and her own safe space. Aries is good with our 9 year old daughter and her friends but does get quite excited and can get jumpy and mouthy around kids. Aries loves anyone and everyone we have come across. Aries is pretty good at leash walking, but tends to pull/run toward our daughter if she goes on a walk with us. She has not been reactive to other dogs walking or the neighbor dogs barking around us, but is usually on the lookout for a bunny to sprint after. Aries is doing really well with kenneling. She cries for a moment, then quiets down and settles in, and this is even becoming less frequent as the days pass. We are working hard on potty training and learning some basic commands. Aries rarely makes a sound. She has adjusted really well and is a sweetheart. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: .4luvofdog

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
