m so happy to be soaking up all the love from the volunteers. I got to spend a couple of nights in a temporary foster home and had fun there and now I’m ready to find a wonderful home of my very own with a family to love and be loved by! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts that were about my size, and I liked the male dogs but not the female dogs, so if you have a male dog that would like a playmate, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I liked the 12-year-old girl in my temporary foster home – though I was a bit mouthy and puppy-like. Best no very young kids that I may accidentally bump over or be a bit playfully mouthy with, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m an active, fun, and sweet girl who’s full of life and young dog energy. I can be a little jumpy and mouthy at times, but it’s just my playful spirit shining through. I was a perfect girl for my photo shoot and even lifted each paw during my bath to help out! I prance happily through the hallways, full of curiosity and joy, sometimes playfully biting at my leash just because I’m so excited. Everyone says I’m simply adorable and delightful! / Energy level: 5-7 with bursts of higher energy. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘place’ commands and I look forward to learning more. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts and did well in the home I visited, too. / I’m having some accidents on the shelter schedule and had just a few in the home I visited, so I’ll want my new family to help me finish mastering my potty manners. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love people, having fun, playing and I’m sure we’ll discover lots more that we’ll enjoy doing together! / I can’t think of any dislikes yet, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m a great dog looking for a great family that will cherish me and have lots of fun with me. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
