: West Highland Terrier (Westie)
Good with: Dogs ✔️ Cats ✔️ Kids ✔️
Rascal lives up to his adorable name! This playful, happy little West Highland Terrier was surrendered to Pet Rescue By Judy when his previous owner’s health made it difficult to keep up with such a spirited young pup. Now Rascal is safe, loved, and ready for a new beginning with a family who can match his energy and zest for life.
Rascal is currently being fostered at the Aloft Hotel in downtown Orlando, where the fantastic staff has taken him under their wing. They make sure he gets his walks, playtime, and lots of affection while he waits for his forever family. He has quickly become a favorite—his cheerful personality and big Westie smile brighten everyone’s day!
This boy has all the wonderful traits people love about Westies—he’s bright, friendly, and full of personality. Rascal loves other dogs, gets along beautifully with cats, and is gentle and social with kids. With his bouncy enthusiasm and desire to play, he would thrive in an active home where he can enjoy walks, adventures, and plenty of attention.
Rascal is also crate trained and actually prefers to sleep in his crate at night instead of in bed with his humans. It’s his cozy little den! During the day, though, he’s ready to run, play, explore, and entertain you with his Westie charm.
Rascal is the perfect match for a family looking for a fun, affectionate, and energetic companion. If you’re ready to bring home a little ball of joy, Rascal is waiting with a wagging tail!

West Highland Terrier Grooming & Care Tips
Westies are adorable, but their signature look requires regular attention. Here’s what adopters should know:
Grooming Needs
Regular brushing (2–3 times weekly) to prevent matting and keep their coat healthy. Professional grooming every 4–8 weeks to maintain their classic Westie cut. Their white fur can stain easily, so gentle whitening shampoos may be helpful. Clean around the eyes frequently to prevent tear staining. Check and clean ears weekly — Westies can be prone to buildup.
✂️ Coat Maintenance
Westies have a double coat:
A coarse outer coat A soft, dense undercoat
This means they shed lightly but require routine grooming to prevent mats and maintain texture.
Training & Exercise
Daily walks, play sessions, or fenced-in yard time are ideal. Westies do best when they have both physical and mental stimulation. Positive-reinforcement training works wonderfully for this smart breed.
Health Considerations
Westies are generally healthy but can be prone to:
Skin allergies or sensitivities Ear issues Dry or itchy skin Occasional dental concerns
Regular vet visits, a high-quality diet, and routine dental care will help keep them thriving.
