the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 09/18/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Angelo was found as a stray and landed at a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Angelo arrived in rescue with a broken leg. Thankfully no surgery was required. He responded well to PRP therapy and lots of rest. Our veterinarians have noted he walks without lameness though there is a deviation in the forelimb where the fracture healed. Angelo was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. He appears to be a poodle mix. We cannot guarantee that he his hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. note note - Angelo is currently eating Science Diet ID (a prescription food for sensitive stomachs). He most likely has allergies and when he is on regular dog food (we feed Science Diet adult) he has diarrhea. Science Diet ID is chicken based so we do not think he is allergic to chicken as so many dogs are but he will need a special diet. Science Diet ID is prescription only and is $4.83 per can on Amazon. Angelo eats 1/2 can per meal for a total of 1 can per day. We mix in a very small amount (1/4 cup) of Science Diet Kibble. Our suggestion is you work with your vet to wean Angelo onto a sensitive system food that is not prescription. There are several good ones on the market. Weight: 11 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Unknown. Angelo has an interesting physical issue. We can't find testicles - most of the time when a little boy is a cryptorchid (testicles stay inside the body) a vet can feel them, but our vet can feel nothing. There is no scar showing he has been neutered but if was very young (some shelters will neuter at 3 lbs no matter what age that is and this guy was probably 3 lbs at about 10 weeks old) then he could be neutered. There is no neuter tattoo like most shelters do though. We are continuing to monitor. Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Angelo is looking for a home where he get ALL the attention ALL the time. He loves people and wants to be part of them. He would NOT be good in a home that works all day. He wants to be with you, on your lap and in your arms. What is my personality like? Bouncy, happy and full of joy. He loves life. He is the epitome of a Happy Dog. How he came to be stray is a mystery. The only thing we can figure out is either someone was incredibly nondog savvy and did not know what they had in Angelo or they worked all day and he ran away. He managed to get into trouble (see medical special needs above) during that time and that is why he's been here a bit. He had to heal. His leg is now perfectly fine. How do I act when I first meet new people? He will jump into your arms for hugs and cuddles. Also plan to get kissed. He loves to give kisses. Other tips and tidbits: Angelo was found as a stray. We have no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he was estimated at 11 months old when he arrived in rescue. We celebrate his birthday 11/16/2024. We do NOT know Angelo's breed and he does need groomed. Right now, we are not seeing shedding but since we do not know his heritage, we would recommend him for someone who must have hypoallergenic due to health concerns. House trained? Angelo is NOT yet potty trained. He will go in his run on the overnight shift. He does not go during the day. We think in a home where he taken out later in the evening that our schedule allows, he will be fine but he will need work on this. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
