plication so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Lucky #9 | 5-6 Month-Old Alaskan Husky | A Sweet, Gentle Soul Finding Her Confidence Meet Lucky, a gorgeous gray and white Husky pup with soulful eyes and a tender, cautious heart. She arrived reserved and uncertain around people, but in her foster home—with steady patience from her humans and the encouragement of a few trusted dog buddies—she’s been steadily coming out of her shell, revealing a growing spark of curiosity and play. Lucky absolutely thrives with other dogs and will need a home with at least one confident canine companion. She adores her foster pack, especially the senior dog she follows everywhere, and she plays beautifully with puppies and small dogs alike. She has also become comfortable around cats, mostly choosing to ignore them after an initial adjustment. Around people, Lucky is still learning that humans can be safe and kind. She allows gentle petting, especially when approached slowly with a calm voice, and she’s showing more trust every day. With consistency and compassion, she’ll continue to grow into a loving, connected companion. She has not yet met children, but her foster believes she would be fine with respectful kids who understand how to interact with dogs. Lucky is almost house trained—her few accidents have been due to human timing, not her—and she settles nicely with a routine. She isn’t currently using a crate, though she has handled alone time well when accompanied by canine friends. Walks can feel a little overwhelming at first, but she settles into a rhythm quickly and does best on a shorter leash. As a young Husky, Lucky has a high energy level and will need daily exercise, enrichment, and structure. She’s happiest running, exploring, playing with other dogs, and “talking” in true Husky fashion when she gets excited. After a good day of activity, she’s content to relax and recharge. Lucky and her sister were surrendered after receiving little early socialization, but she’s already making impressive progress with the right guidance. Her ideal home will have working-breed or Husky experience, a patient approach, and at least one confident, friendly resident dog to help show her the ropes. With time, consistency, and love, this sweet girl will shine. Lucky is an adventurer in the making—smart, sensitive, athletic, and full of potential. She’s looking for a family who sees the beautiful dog she is now and the incredible companion she’ll grow into. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogsarrcolorado for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: arrcolorado/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
