—sensitive, curious, affectionate, and full of love. Blue adores being near his people, whether that means lounging at your feet, snoozing nearby while you work, or nudging your phone out of your hands to politely demand pets. He’s the perfect mix of playful and calm, happy to enjoy short bursts of activity followed by long, peaceful naps.
Blue is an easygoing companion who quickly adapts to a home routine. His mornings are slow—one quick trip outside, then it’s time for his first nap of the day. In the afternoons, he’s ready for a walk or a little playtime. He’s not one for all-day activity; a 30–45 minute stroll or fetch session with his favorite stuffie (which he proudly collects but never destroys) is plenty before it’s back to relaxing.
This big guy is smart and observant. He’s even learning to use communication buttons like his foster brother! Blue communicates mostly through his eyes—if he’s hungry, thirsty, or needs to go outside, he’ll sit and patiently wait for you to notice, no barking or whining required. When he’s ready for attention, though, he’ll let you know with a gentle nudge and roll onto his back for belly rubs, sometimes “hugging” your arm to say thank you.
Blue is housetrained, crate-trained, and does great in the car—his favorite spot is the middle seat, where he can stick his head out the window. He’s also a gentleman in the bath and tolerates nail care well, though he prefers you to go one paw at a time. He eats three small meals a day with pumpkin to keep his tummy happy and uses a slow-feeder bowl to pace himself.
He currently lives with a small dog and has learned to respect his space, though he can be a bit excitable when first meeting new dogs. With slower introductions and patience, he does beautifully. He’s friendly with people of all ages, including teens, though his enthusiasm can be a little overwhelming for anyone unsure of big dogs—he just loves to greet people quickly and up close!
Blue would thrive in a home where someone is around often, as he loves companionship and is used to having his humans nearby. He’d do best with another large, confident dog or as the only pet where he can soak up all the love. His ideal adopter will understand the quirks and sensitivity that come with owning a “gentle giant” and will give him structure, affection, and reassurance.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate best friend who will make you laugh daily and fill your home with love (and a few stuffies), Blue is ready to be your big, beautiful shadow.
