calm. At 25 lbs he is a great size for both adventures and snuggle time, and he adapts easily to whatever the household is doing. Deuce came into rescue after being removed from an abusive home where he was “buckshot” and kicked multiple times. He received the veterinary attention he needed and healed well both physically and mentally rally. He has a very slight occasional limp in his front left leg, but it does not slow him down or affect his day-to-day life. Deuce enjoys meeting new people and exploring new places. He is curious, friendly, and eager to be part of whatever is happening. He loves toys, enjoys a good game of fetch, and will happily bring you his favorites. When playtime is over, he is just as content relaxing on his own or curling up beside you. Deuce is house-trained and will go to the door when he needs to go out. He does not vocalize to alert, so his new family should keep an eye on his signals. He is crate-trained and settles quietly with a small bit of encouragement. He is learning sit and making steady progress with leash work. He chews only his toys and has not shown any resource guarding. He has two barks, a playful, excited bark and a deeper working bark, though he rarely uses the second one. Deuce is wonderful with dogs of all ages and sizes. He enjoys being included in daily activities and does well with a household that offers regular play and structure. He travels well in the car but can get motion sickness on longer rides. He tolerates baths without issue and approaches new environments with curiosity. He enjoys company but is also comfortable relaxing independently. Deuce will thrive in a moderately active home that can continue guiding his training and give him opportunities to play, explore, and learn. He would enjoy another friendly dog in the home but does not require it. Deuce is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, on preventatives, and healed from his previous injury with no ongoing care needed. Deuce is ready for a fresh start and a family who will give him patience, consistency, and love. If you are looking for a happy and well-rounded companion who brings both joy and calm to your home, Deuce may be the perfect fit. Questions about Deuce? Please email kebtyleryahoo. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
