ble coat and a heart full of love. This little gem is confident, playful, and full of energy—always ready to explore the world, learn new things, and shower her humans with affection (sometimes with a gentle love nibble or a playful pant-leg chew!). Personality & Demeanor Koko Bean is a true social butterfly with a confident, happy-go-lucky attitude. Her ears are perked, tail wagging, and she romps joyfully, giving licks, cuddles, and playful nibbles to anyone she bonds with. She thrives on attention, loves interactive play, and is always eager to engage with people and her environment. Despite her puppy energy, Koko Bean is calm and well-mannered in her kennel, showing no barking, whining, or growling when left alone—a testament to her balanced temperament and excellent potential for training. Play & Motivation Koko Bean loves her toys, especially balls and squeaky toys, and will chase them with excitement. She enjoys short independent play sessions (like taking a toy to a blanket for a quick rest) and promptly returns for affection. She engages in tug-of-war and is food-motivated, making treat-based training highly successful. She readily exchanges toys or high-value items for treats, demonstrating confidence and impulse control for her age. Training & Intelligence Koko Bean is highly trainable and eager to learn. During her evaluation, she quickly learned the “sit” command and responded well to positive reinforcement. Her intelligence, curiosity, and drive make her an excellent candidate for Barn Hunt, scent work, or other canine sports. With consistent, patient, and positive training, she will continue to thrive and excel. Socialization & Household Considerations As a young pup new to the shelter, Koko Bean's dog exposure has been limited primarily to those near her kennel. She is confident and would likely enjoy meeting dogs of both the same and opposite sex, including larger dogs, with slow, supervised introductions. Koko Bean would do best in a home with: A patient, positive, and experienced handler Children age 10 and up, unless Malinois-savvy, due to her puppy mouthiness Optional dog companions (not required)Why Koko Bean is Special Koko Bean perfectly balances fun, affection, and intelligence. She’s confident yet loving, independent yet eager to please. She will thrive in a home that can provide consistent training, socialization, and plenty of interactive play. Whether you’re looking for a spirited cuddle buddy, a clever companion for training, or a future canine athlete, Koko Bean is ready to steal your heart and join your adventures. #madlovekokobean To apply to adopt, please fill out the application by clicking on the Adopt button or ask for this dog to be added to your existing application. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
