d life in a great foster home in Southeast PA. I am up to date on my vaccines, spayed, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, on prevention, and crate trained. I’m looking for a Forever home that might have another dog that would enjoy running around with me, as well as maybe engage in a game of tug a war at times too. I love to be outside, I walk well on a leash, plays very nicely with cats and get along well with other dogs. I also love people of all ages. I’m still working on remembering my manners, especially not jumping on people when I am excited and I continue to work on important basic commands. I will practice any commands you want if you have treats for me. Here are a few other things my Foster Mom feels you should also know about me, Molly! *Molly has a medical condition called Diabetes Insipidus. Never heard of It, No problem. Basically, Molly’s brain doesn’t know how to stop drinking water. She will drink most of the water she is given without stopping. However, Molly’s condition is easily treated with medication (eye drops) which she will need twice a day for the rest of her life to help her brain communicate. And believe us this does not slow her down one bit. Molly’s new family will also need to be willing to give her regular water breaks and continue to help her learn water will always be available. She has learned the word “enough” and stops drinking too. *Molly doesn’t mind being in a crate for a few hours. Sometimes she likes to just lie in it and take a nap, but she does best if she doesn’t have to stay in it for long periods during the day. Molly has not gotten used to full snuggles yet, because most of the time she is playing or chewing on a bone. *Molly needs a loving family that plays and will let her be goofy too. She will need another dog that also wants to play with her or a family who can spend quality time engaging with her. She is learning on an e-collar, however, a home with a physically fenced in yard would be best for her to play in as remember she has lots of energy and needs plenty of exercise. Molly is fully house trained, which took quite a while to accomplish give her previous owner crated her for long periods of time, she was not given potty training lessons until she came to us here at NBRAN, as well as having Diabetes Insipidus. If you think Molly would be a wonderful addition to your family, then please consider filling out an adoption application using the link below as Molly is ready to pack up her blanket and toys and start her next chapter! If you’re interested in submitting an application for Molly/PA, you can do so here: nbran/adopt/adoption-application Once we receive you application the coordinator in the State where you reside will follow-up with you. Need to reach your State Coordinator, find their contact information here nbran/about/state-provincial-coordinators. Molly’s adoption fee is 325.00 which will help NBRAN cover the vetting costs and other expenses associated with bringing Brit like Molly/PA back to good health and readying them for adoption. Don't live in Southeast PA or close by, No Problem! NBRAN also has a wonderful transport team willing to help bring Molly to her new family, up to 1400 miles, with the adoptive family being responsible for the last 100 miles, at no additional fee. Still have questions? Contact Pennsylvania Coordinators Lisa Burly-Blystone at lcnjnburleygmail or Chris Eddinger at ceddingerverizon Thank you.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
