silience and quiet strength. She was found by a rescue in South Dakota after being abandoned at a landfill on an Indian reservation, severely underweight and starving. With dedicated care, good food, and kindness, Faith slowly regained her health and learned that people could be safe again. During her recovery with the previous rescue, she lived successfully around other dogs, cats, and children, and showed a gentle, appreciative nature. When Faith later came to United Doberman Rescue, January 2025, where her foster family fell in love and chose to adopt her in May, 2025, then changed their minds August 2025. After arriving at UDR Faith began showing signs of neck pain. Out of concern, she underwent extensive diagnostics and specialty care with MRIs through the University of Minnesota. The good news is she does not have Wobblers disease. Faith was diagnosed with spondylitis, a painful spinal condition that can be managed with ongoing veterinary care and a calm, consistent lifestyle. Please read up on it. Faith has been very good with cats and currently lives peacefully with them. Faith was not socialized with other dogs in her foster/adoptive home, and over time she lost the ability to comfortably interact with dogs in a social setting. This is especially significant for a breed that thrives on proper, ongoing socialization. As a result, Faith can now appear reactive around some other dogs, though this behavior was not present earlier in her journey when she lived in a more social environment. This change is difficult to explain, as it was not present during her time at the previous rescue, where she lived comfortably with other dogs. Is it enviromental? We are entirely unsure but believe the combination of pain management needs, limited exposure to other dogs, not being socialized properly, and unexplained stress may be contributing factors. Over time, Faith has become more sensitive in busy or stressful environments, and can be unsure with some people and animals. This is likely influenced by pain, past trauma, and repeated changes in her life. She does best when things are quiet, predictable, and respectful of her boundaries. Sadly, her foster/adoptive family is now moving out of state and cannot take Faith with them, so we are urgently seeking a new foster or experienced Doberman home. Faith Would Thrive With: • A quiet, low-traffic home • Someone with Doberman or large-breed experience • Calm routines and gentle leadership • A home willing to manage her medical needs • Patience, understanding, and compassion Faith is not a “bad” dog. She is a dog who has endured more than most and deserves stability and grace. She needs experienced people who understand the breed. Foster Needed ASAP Faith needs a safe place to land quickly. If you have Doberman experience and the heart and home to help Faith reset and feel secure again, please reach out. Let’s make sure Faith doesn’t have to keep starting over. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
