Selena and her sibling were found living outside in a crate in South Carolina when they were approximately 8 weeks old. Their former owner, who was squatting in a rural area, refused to bring them indoors, leaving them exposed and vulnerable. Thanks to our incredible partner rescue, Selena was saved and given the chance she deserved—and she has been working hard ever since to become the confident, happy pup she’s meant to be. Selena is on the shy and sensitive side and takes time to warm up to new people as she continues building trust and confidence. To support her, Selena has been attending a board-and-train program, where she has been making great progress learning skills and building confidence in a structured, supportive environment. She is dog friendly, but she needs slow introductions and proper decompression to feel safe and comfortable around other dogs. Selena is also potty trained and crate trained, which has helped give her structure and predictability as she continues to grow. Selena would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner who understands shy puppies and can commit to continuing the training she has already completed to help shape her into the best dog she can be. With patience, consistency, and kindness, Selena has so much potential to blossom. Despite her timid nature, Selena is playful, curious, and affectionate once she feels secure. She’s still a puppy and will continue learning all the ins and outs of life, but with the right home, she’s going to thrive.
