ue. While in their care, we got her UTD on shots and she was spayed. Calusa is newer to rescue and is an absolutely drop-dead GORGEOUS malinois. At about four years old, she is a sturdy 65-70lbs and isn’t afraid to throw her weight around. Even for a malinois, Calusa is a different breed. This girl is strong-willed, high spirited, and not for the faint of heart. High toy drive, high food drive, and high prey drive. She will constantly test boundaries, push you to your limits, and push through her own. Calusa is not recommended for a home with other dogs, cats, or young kids. She is not the dog for an inexperienced handler or first time malinois owner. She will become possessive of her toys and food, chase cars down the road, seek and destroy small animals, and aggressively dominate any other dogs. Her prickly exterior does have a soft center though! Outside of her bubble (on walks or in public), Calusa is friendly with new people and will jump up onto people to lick them. In the home, Calusa loves cuddling on the couch with her person, sleeping in bed with them, and getting belly rubs. She does respect barriers/thresholds, if enforced, and is kennel trained. Calusa is likely best suited for a home with an experienced handler/dog trainer. All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and 6 month subscription.
