att was rescued from a rural shelter in Louisiana after a rough start to life. He arrived underweight with visible skin irritation, but even then, his happy, resilient personality stood out. Now in foster care in New York, Wyatt is steadily gaining weight, his skin is improving with diet changes and care, and his true personality continues to shine.
Wyatt is a pittie hound mix with striking blue eyes and a bright, expressive face. While his paperwork lists him at approximately 1.5 years old, Wyatt has a very puppy-like demeanor with youthful energy, curiosity, and playfulness. He is very much in his “young dog” phase and will thrive with continued structure, training, and enrichment.
Wyatt is an energetic, social dog who loves chew toys, outdoor time, and running around with his dog friends. He is very dog social and truly thrives when he has another friendly, playful dog in the home. Because of this, we are seeking a home with a canine companion who can be his playmate and help meet his social and enrichment needs.
Wyatt is wonderful with children, though his youthful enthusiasm means he can be jumpy at times. He is still learning basic commands, and his foster family is working closely with him to build good manners and foundational training.
Wyatt’s hound side adds curiosity, humor, and personality to his day-to-day life. He enjoys exploring with his nose, taking in new environments, and expressing himself vocally when excited or engaged. He is an interactive, engaging dog who enjoys being part of the action and included in daily routines.
Wyatt is not good with cats and requires a cat-free home.
When his energy is spent, Wyatt is happy to relax and has discovered that couches and beds are excellent places to unwind. He is still healing from his past, but he has already proven himself to be a resilient, joyful dog who continues to blossom in foster care.
Wyatt’s ideal home will have another dog, provide plenty of exercise and mental enrichment, and be excited to help a young, playful dog continue growing into his best self.
