d is not a binding contract. To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our Adoption Process page on our website at .rescuecrew. Hi there! My name is Emma and I am on the search for my forever home. The first big thing I would like to tell you about myself is that I am deaf! I have started learning some signs in my foster home and am excited to continue to learn things. I will work hard for treats and I am a smart girl! I am still young, so I love fun and adventure. I enjoy staying busy and my foster parents have discovered that I love to play with all sorts of toys and especially enjoy chasing balls around the house. Even better if they are treat balls. Playing and getting treats at the same time? Nothing better! I love going for car rides and am a perfect passenger princess. I also really like pup cups if you want to bring me with when you make your morning coffee run. Just sayin! I am potty trained once I learn the routine of my new home and have made enormous progress on crate training since arriving in my foster home. Give me some things to keep me busy in there like a kong and I’ll happily run in there and chew on that until I fall asleep. Because I am deaf, I am incredibly loud when I bark so a home without shared walls is probably best for me! I would LOVE a dog companion in my forever home, but they should be around my size and playful! I love to rough house and play with other dogs. There are a couple of old and small dogs in my foster home that don’t find my play style very cute. *eye roll* They are just boring! I think my play style would also be too much for any feline friends. I am still young and learning my manners so I may accidently hurt a young child which I would never want to do so probably best to avoid that situation! My foster parents say I am an absolute riot and keep them laughing every day. I AM pretty funny and goofy if I do say so myself! When it’s bedtime, I am adorable. I either fall asleep all night at your feet or I’ll tuck myself in under the blankets next to you if you let me! I give the best kisses and have such a sweet soul. My ideal person/people will be devoted to giving me structure, patience, and training to continue to grow! I hope that I can find my forever home soon to hopefully have lots of play time and adventures while giving you all of my heart and love! Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at .RescueCrew. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
