back like a typical puppy normally does. I started my life in a hoarding house with way too many dogs and not enough attention, care, or food, because of this I now have some quirks. I am a typical carefree puppy at heart and I know I can turn into the perfect man but I need some guidance, reassurance and help to get there. For starters, I am so scared that my meal may be my last meal. I do not like other animals or even people near me when I eat. I also scarf my food down so fast so a slow feeder is recommended. My foster mom has started feeding me out of her hand and that’s fine but if you put my food in a bowl I will be very defensive over it. I’m learning how to accept discipline and re directing my puppy play bites to toys versus my human. This has been a little tough for me but I promise I am doing my best. As for other dogs, I am completely fine with them and do enjoy them but I do think a dog that puts me in my place would be best. I may walk all over a submissive dog with my big personality. Are you ready for all the amazing things about me? I am such a cuddly sweet boy. I do great in the car. I am doing so well with potty training and am completely kennel trained. I am good with cats! I don’t mind sharing my benebones or less high value bones or toys but anything with food or good stuff in it should be left to kennel time. Since I love food so much I am very highly food motivated and know sit already and will most likely be able to learn any trick you want to teach me! I have a very big personality and once my quirks are figured out I know I will shine and be such a great boy! Little or young kids probably aren’t the best right now but once I know I will get fed and loved on every day kids will be just fine! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $595.00

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
