terest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our Adoption Process page on our website at .rescuecrew. Whelp - I’m still here. Rescue took me in at the beginning of November, offering me a second chance at finding a home of my own. Two days later I got really sick and needed an expensive surgery to safe my life. Rescue took that on as well and has now given me a THIRD chance at a new life! But, rather unbelievably, there has literally been not one little spark of interest in adopting me - I’m devastated and frankly really confused! I’m an incredibly affectionate and energetic little girl. I love to be active and play games, explore outside, interact with people, and play with toys and other dogs. I’m super smart and enjoy learning new things as I diligently work for treats. During my time in my foster home I’ve become completely potty trained and I’m kennel trained while my people work during the day. At night, I get to sleep in the bed only because I’m the absolute best snuggler and as soon as the lights go out, I curl up an don’t make a peep ’til morning! I absolutely adore playing with toys! I love to whip them around and run back and forth flinging them everywhere. I like fluffy toys as well as a good bone to chomp on. A Kong stuffed with goodies is also a favorite! I know the listing says I’m an American Pitbull Terrier, but that can only be partially true! I’m nothing like those lazy couch potatoes. Plus, with my long legs, petite build, and lovely furry neck scruff, I most likely have a little border collie or Aussie in me. When it’s time to chill and settle down, I guess I AM like a pitbull in my love for a full body contact cuddle with no personal boundaries. But honestly, who DOESN’T want to be loved that hard?! I had a wonderful Christmas with my foster family - they spoiled me with treats, some new toys, and a stocking of my very own! But I’m keeping my paws crossed that someone special is out there, looking to adopt a little gem like me, and we just haven’t crossed paths yet - I hope it’s soon so I can continue to grow into the lovely little dog that I am with a favorite and forever person by my side! Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at .RescueCrew. You can also access the necessary online forms here as well.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
