Foster Home Feedback 1/11/26 Foster Feedback:This sweet girl has made some great progress in a stable home. Rudy is now more than happy to go for car rides knowing she gets to come home. She does pretty well on a leash but is strong if she sees something that interests her. She loves to go for walks. Rudy is super smart and catches on quickly. She had a sitter this weekend since we were out of town. They said she was a great guest. She had a blast playing with their two golden retrievers. Rudy ran the fence line with the neighbor dogs and didn’t bark at all. Now that they mention it, I haven't heard her bark at all, either. She is a super sweet pup that can't wait to find her forever home. 12/24/25 Foster Feedback: Miss Rudy is very sweet but she has a lot to learn as a very large puppy that can reach a counter with no effort. She is very afraid of entering a car or leaving the house and she pancakes to the ground. She is too big for me to assist her to the car so my husband lifts her if needed. Rudy has graduated to sleeping in the bedroom with no issues. She sleeps on the dog bed and sleeps all night long. She is unsure in new situations with new people and her tail is tucked so she needs lots of patience to learn new things. Rudy is great with us and our quiet household. 12/19/2025 Foster Feedback: This girl has been with me for a few days. Rudy is potty trained and adores my boxer mix. She is very sweet and submissive to him. Rudy has no problems sharing toys and high value bones. She sleeps in her kennel and is kenneled when we are gone. Rudy does bark a little but calms down. She is a large puppy so she can be clumsy and under foot. Rudy loves to follow her people around. Otherwise she can be found just lounging on a comfy spot or chewing toys. Rudy has tried to chew things she shouldn’t and listens very well to leave it. Overall Rudy has been a great house guest. 12/16/2025 Foster Feedback: Rudy (pretty girl) arrived in my house today. She is a tall drink of water. When I first met her at the facility she was calm and gave me instant kisses, I knew I needed to bring Rudy home. She is very curious about the house sniffing everything. Rudy seemed timid at the stairs but after introduction to my dog she followed him up and down. She met my submissive boxer mix and my blind old chihuahua and did really well. Rudy sat in the kennel calmly when I brought her home and is now relaxing comfy on a dog bed. No accidents yet but everything is still new. More to come as I learn everything about Rudy. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: .4luvofdog

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
