fill out an Adoption Application. If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application. Meet Kanga and Roo! These adorable pups were born in the streets of Ensenada, Mexico when a good sam saw their mother taking trash from a dumpster and walked several blocks with a plastic bag of food, they realized she had a hidden litter and feeding herself to try to nourish her newborn pups. The good sam picked up the whole family and took home to help them. After 6 weeks they contacted ARWOB for help. Once old enough separated from mom and started vaccine series. Kanga and Roo are the last pups standing as well as their mom "Foxy' who is also available and spayed and fully vetted healthy ready to be adopted herself. You can take a look at Foxy biography to see what mom looks like do know that Foxy is already a young adult full grown at 20 pounds. The pups are slightly under weight and we are trying to fatten them up currently less than 15 pounds so we believe they will be larger than mom but still at medium breed. Could grow to be in the 25-40 pound range and as super mutts likely mostly a shepherd mix. They are typical pups playful, super loving, they are still learning about the 'world' so they are a bit scared of the 'rush' of life and currently being socialized around it. Any adopter should be READY for everything that entitles and comes with puppy upbringing like socialization and exposure to dogs, people, walks, 101 dog training basics, etc. They can NOT be adopted with someone with a 9-5 job thinking they can be created at home for 8hrs during this young age so only apply if you have a conducive schedule at least for the next couple of months while they grew up. KEY NOTE: As of 12/14 they have not yet been sterilized The vet wanted us to wait until they are at least 4 months and have a scheduled sterilization date end of January. Hence adopters must be local to san diego so they can drive pup to and from the vet clinic apts which will be in the north park area 92104, of course its already included in the adoption fee. If still available in february then applications will be open to any applicant who is willing to drive down to meet them from any state. Come meet them at the adoption event debut 12/13/25 and fall in love! To meet them we can schedule meet and greets in san diego once we receive adoption applications for review we will contact you. If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
