Adoption Application. If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application. Meet Red! Poor pup, Red was rescued from the street of Ensenada. Mexico 4 years ago and the poor guy has been waiting for EVER for a foster or adopter with no luck. He is staying with his rescuer in baja along many other dogs in the property. He is mostly in the yard with the fellow rescue dogs during the day and crated at night. Forget being a handsome doggo, he is also a sweetheart. We bring him across to san diego once a year to say hi and give him a break from that life and do the vetting. As of 12/1/25 Red has been boarding at the vet clinic where he received a dental (he actually did not have much tartar for a senior cutie so adopters likely won't need to do mnay dentals for him) and his boosters. Continues to be a healthy strong dog and he is now statying at casa de arwob in san diego to get a break and is fostered around other fellow dogs like his besties Cairo, Georgie, lady, Roxy. etc/ He does great with dogs BUT he can be a 'macho' boy towards other 'macho/alphas' meaning he is not matched with a male dog who will growl at him, etc. He has never been in a dog fight and has not shown any reactivity on the leash walks. He is amazing with humans too. Not cat tested yet but does see them and has not reacted. Red is crate trained and although a 'senior' he is VERY playful and would be wonderful companion for someone with a young dog who needs a companion but not another crazy high energy dog. We think he would be a great 'nanny'. Perhaps even a great match for a working couple who want an easier dog who can stay home while on their 9-5 job and want a walking and outting companion or a senior/retiree who wants a larger happy loving dog to just live life. We would LOVE to at least find a foster to give him a better life while he waits for his home, we do not know if he could be a dog park dog because of all the personality dogs whho attend dog parks some of which have no control. but he would be a wonderful walking, hiking, camping or home companion. Pretty easy going yet playful and does well in car rides. Sadly, Red will likely go back to Baja before Christmas so hopefuly we can find a foster SOON! Come meet him at the adoption event debut 12/13/25 and fall in love! To meet him we can schedule meet and greets in san diego once we receive adoption applications for review we will contact you. If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
