rl with lots of puppy energy. I love play time and being outside just sitting in the sun. I have grown very fond of playing fetch so my foster parents play with me daily and it gets rid of some of my built up puppy energy. I am crate and potty trained(I run to the door or make noises when I’m in my crate) and I love getting tucked in at night in my blankets before I go to sleep. I can typically sleep through the night, but I do get up early to go potty and to eat my breakfast. Did I mention, I love to eat! I have a good appetite and I know my daily food and treat routine. I also love snuggle time and to sit with my FP on the couch or in their laps. I have 2 Dane foster fur siblings and I have no fear being around them but sometimes my energy gets to be a bit much for them and they let me know to back off and typically I will listen to that cue. I am also working on my manners; I know sit, come and let go but still need some reminders as I am after all still all puppy. My foster mom has also taught me to walk on a leash and I do pretty well but then sometimes there are leaves and things on the ground that call me to pull in a different direction. Overall, I’m a really good puppy and I try to be a good girl and I do take redirection when needed. I am being fostered in Concord, NC. If interested in adopting email us at infogreatdanefriends for an application. A fenced yard will be required so she has a safe place to run and romp and do all the puppy things! *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. We require a fenced yard (exceptions made on a case by case basis - NO exceptions for puppies or deaf/vision impaired dogs - no invisible fencing), that stairs in the home be covered with some sort of slip resistant material to prevent injury, that all other animals in the home be up to date on vaccinations as well as spayed/neutered and that all dogs live inside as a part of the family. Our approval process consists of an application, vet and reference checks, phone interview and house check. Please email us for an application or if you have any questions.*****

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
