gs at my foster home. I am around 45 pounds currently. I sleep all night and am making good progress with house training. My foster family has me on a predictable schedule, and I do well with that. I can be left alone 4-5 hours at a time and then need a potty break. I am a good listener, and I come running when called. I am very food-motivated, so that makes training easy. I know how to sit when asked, and I know what it means when I hear the words: kennel up, go outside, go potty, and go inside. All these words mean I get a little treat, and I love that! I am still learning leash manners. I really love to be with my people and my foster dog friends. I love to snuggle with them as much as possible. Running in my fenced-in yard with the other dogs is so fun! My foster mom feels like it would be great to get a family that has one of those. I love to be active. When I am done, snuggling and sleeping by you is my favorite thing. I will connect deeply with you and will love all the attention you can give me. If you are looking for a best friend, I can be your guy! There are two cats in my foster home, and I am very interested in them. One of the cats hides when I am around because I get a little too interested in her. The other cat likes to play hide-and seek with me. I would probably do ok with a dog-savvy cat. I like to chew so I get bones and toys that help me stay busy. My foster mom thinks I am very smart. I would love to live with someone who can give me lots of attention and a place to run to get some energy out. Most of the time I am a pretty calm guy. I like to use my bark when I want something really bad, so I probably wouldn’t be a good fit in a house/apartment with shared walls even though I am making good progress with that. I would do best in a home with children over ten years old. My foster family loves me so much and they want me to find my forever family to bond with during my puppy development time. I can’t wait to meet you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $625.00

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
