bed as docile pups as well as very well-mannered and easy going. All the characteristics and mannerisms of their mother mom Maggie. They are at a young age of just a bit over 3 and half months old with lots of adventures and play ahead of them. The world awaits these cuties as they embark on the journey into their happily ever after. A strapping boy like Dozier is already 30 pounds. There is always room for error in guessing the full weight when fully grown but our best guess is Dozier will be a large dog of over 60 pounds when fully grown. He will be a lot of dog which will make him a great cuddle buddy. We do know he makes a big positive impression on everyone he meets. Meeting new friends becomes a milestone that evolves over time. Some dogs start small and go big, but Dozier starts off big and goes bigger. He enjoys the company of other dogs, and children of all ages. His list of friends just keeps on going like the Energizer bunny. He has not been introduced to a cat, so his relationship status remains unknown at this time. While Dozier will have lots to learn moving forward, he is working on his house, crate and leash training skills. He is taking it one day at a time and putting in his best effort. As with all puppies, Dozier is full of curiosity and wonderment and is ready to grow from adorable puppy to an amazing dog with the right guidance and patience. He will need a home with someone who has the time, desire and energy to train and socialize him so that he can become the perfect lifelong companion. Get ready for the Dozier charm and bring this lovable guy into your home as your next best friend. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Dozier is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
