, this adorable girl got a glowing report card from her foster mom. Only ~3 months old (born 10/7/25), she is not yet spayed but that will be a condition of her adoption. Here’s what her foster mom had to say about her: “She is doing SUPER, such a happy, smart puppy! She's doing really well with a regular schedule, no accidents in the house, she's learning a ton of basic commands and just really loves learning new stuff. She settles well in her crate for naps and sleeps crated at night on the first floor by herself. She's adventurous and confident, she is even a bit sassy with my big resident dogs and wants to play/chase/fetch. “She is also getting close to 20 lbs now! Her future home should be prepared for a dog that will probably be in the 60-70 lb range as an adult, with lots of energy and drive that will need to be channeled into appropriate activities. She has "big dog energy" already, and as the months go by she's going to match that with big dog size. “She's met my horses and now comes out with us while I do my morning and evening barn chores, and we've explored my pastures and made our first trip down to my little wooded area to explore. If I had room in my life and my truck for a 3rd dog I would keep her in a second! But I know she is going to make a very special addition to her forever family, whoever that winds up being. I've been involved in the dog sports world for a few years now (I personally do dock diving and disc dog stuff), and I would like nothing more than to see her wind up with someone else who does or is looking to get into sports, because I think she could excel in several different sports, whether agility, rally/obedience, frisbee, dock diving, scentwork/rat games, flyball, or more. “As far as any other details, we don't have cats so she's an unknown with cats, but because of her age and responsiveness to correction/redirection I expect she would learn to co-exist with cats. Her play style is boisterous and she would love to have a similarly energetic, playful dog companion (but would also do fine as a solo dog).” JellyBean’s adoption donation fee is $450, which includes routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for her by filling out our online application, which is found on our website .tarashouse. Please email us at infotarashouse with any questions.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
