A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Kate is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 10/15/25 Kate had a dental polishing. Kate had a Grade 3 luxating patellar in her right knee. On 12/23/25 she underwent successful reconstruction surgery of that knee. She has healed beautifully and is now fully weight bearing on that knee.
Weight: 9.2 lbs - and she neeeds to be about 8.

What kind of home would be best for me? Kate is a young girl with so little life experience. The world and people in it are big and scary. Everything is new. You will teach her everything. She is a great girl with so much potential that needs an experienced owner and rescuer to help her shine.

What is my personality like? Meet Kate, a toy poodle who’s just beginning to discover that the world — and the people in it — can be kind and gentle. As a breeder release, Kate is learning everything from scratch: what it means to be safe, to be loved, and to be part of a home. Each day brings new experiences, and with patience, she’s slowly stepping into a brighter, more confident version of herself.
In Kate’s ideal world, she would take things at her own pace. Right now, being touched or picked up suddenly is overwhelming for her, but with time and trust, she’s learning that gentle hands can bring comfort. With her caregivers, Kate can be handled and picked up — slowly, calmly, and with compassion. She prefers soft, deliberate attention that allows her to feel secure, and she’ll relax once she realizes she’s safe. We are very confident that once she gets into a home and into one set of loving arms, she is going to give you her heart.
Kate clearly wants affection — you can see it in her eyes and body language — she just hasn’t yet learned how to fully accept it. She enjoys quiet companionship, and her favorite kind of pets are along her back and sides rather than near her face or head. With patient people who understand her need for space and reassurance, Kate will continue to blossom into a loving, trusting companion.
Because she’s still adjusting to home life, Kate will need guidance in learning house manners, routines, and leash walking. She’ll do best in a calm, predictable environment with people who can move at her pace and celebrate her small victories along the way.
Kate may be small, but her journey is full of quiet courage. With patience, empathy, and love, she’ll reward her family with trust and the tender companionship that comes from a dog who’s learned what it means to truly belong.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Kate is timid but every day we see improvement and an understanding that people are great and want to give her nothing but love.

Because of Kate's bad knee, she was never able to be as active as other dogs. Her caregivers have not helped with giving her too many treats trying to earn her love. Kate is now ready to move past all that with a great walking program and a control of her food to get some of the excess weight off and give her the healthy physique we know she can get to.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
