ut 25 pounds, with a big personality and even bigger energy. She’s athletic, enthusiastic, and always ready for what’s next — this is a dog who wants to do life with you, not watch it from the couch. Cola is house and crate trained and does well with structure and routine. She can enjoy other dogs with proper introductions. Cats are not recommended due her prey drive. She’s friendly with people but can get very excited, and because of her energy level and bouncy nature, a home without small children would be best. High Energy, High Potential Cola is an extremely high-energy dog who needs daily physical exercise and mental enrichment to thrive. Long walks, training sessions, enrichment toys, structured play — these are must-haves, not bonuses. She’s not naturally “chill” yet, and affection can quickly turn into overexcitement if things aren’t kept calm and structured. Because of this, Cola will do best with a confident, consistent handler who understands how to provide clear boundaries and leadership. When given direction, she responds well and settles much more easily. Training & Behavior Notes Cola has received professional training from GypsyK9 Solutions. She is very food motivated, smart, and eager to work — making her a great candidate for continued training. She is currently working through some resource guarding with toys and bones. It is not severe, but it does require someone who is comfortable setting firm, fair boundaries and following through. In the right hands, this is very manageable. Follow up training will be provided after adoption. The Right Home for Cola Cola isn’t for a first-time dog owner or someone looking for a laid-back companion. She is perfect for someone who wants: • An active lifestyle partner • A dog who thrives with structure and training • A smart, driven dog with tons of potential • A loyal companion who loves her people and wants to be involved With the right guidance, Cola is going to be an incredible dog — athletic, engaged, and deeply bonded to her person. New Oxford, PA | Kennel License #17350 Fostered in New Holland, PA Cola doesn’t need a perfect home — she needs the right one. If you’re experienced, active, and ready to lead, she just might be your next great partner. We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at .pack9rescue. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs. Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
