t’s the best one yet. This cheerful French Brittany has a goofy sparkle in his eye and a heart that melts anyone lucky enough to meet him. His morning routine? A burst of zoomies, a quick patrol of the yard, and a proud parade with his favorite soft toy. Mealtime is Monty’s personal celebration. He’ll woo-woo sing and bounce with excitement, but the moment you ask him to sit, he becomes the picture of manners. He loves his toys, his people, and his cozy evening rituals—chewing a Benebone, enjoying a Greenie “dessert,” and settling in for snuggles as the day winds down. His teeth are in great shape, and he’s got none of that typical senior-dog breath. Monty is a world-class cuddler who bonds deeply with his humans. Once he trusts you, he’ll lean his whole body against you in the sweetest “you’re my person” hug. He loves watching birds and squirrels, and he’ll happily alert you to backyard visitors with a bark, a whine, or a little excited shimmy. Because of his reduced depth perception and strong prey drive, he’ll need a secure 6-foot fenced yard and a home without cats or small animals. He thrives in a calm, adult-only home and enjoys respectful teens. A single-story home or one with minimal stairs would be perfect for him. Monty does get anxious in the car, so he’s looking for adopters in Colorado or within a few hours of Denver. If you’re searching for a loyal, affectionate companion who will fill your home with warmth and laughter, Monty is ready to choose you. The adoption fee for Monty, who lives in Highlands Ranch, CO is $250, which helps offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. If you are interested in making Monty a part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting .nbran . Please note if you are 65 and over you may adopt Monty for a reduced adoption fee of $150! Your state coordinator/volunteer will conduct a phone interview, home visit and vet check as part of the approval process. Once all 3 have been approved, we will begin the matching process. Special Needs: Positive for Tick Borne Disease; Anaplasma. He has completed his 30 days of antibiotics called Doxycycline. He may always test positive on an annual senior blood panel for this under antibodies, but he is 100% sympton free and NO issues! He has seen our vet and been given a clean bill of health!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
