o somehow ended up at animal control, and I’m so grateful to be with Mostly Mutts now. I’m having fun with the volunteers, learning a lot and counting down the days until I find my new family! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and liked them, so if you have a nice dog at home that would like a puppy friend, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a super cute, friendly, sweet, and fun puppy. I can be a little scared outside and sometimes still pancake flat, but I’m getting braver every day and learning that the play yard can be a fun place with the volunteers. I love snuggles and when the volunteers sit with me and let me get to know them, and I was very brave for my bath, showing off my calm, sweet side along with all that puppy curiosity. / Energy Level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘drop it’ commands and I look forward to learning more. I’m looking for a family that will continue my good training and teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog - so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / I’m having accidents on the shelter schedule, so I’ll need my family to be committed to potty training me. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love hanging out with the volunteers, giving sweet kisses, curling up in laps, snuggling close, enjoying tasty treats, and playing with toys. / Other than still getting used to the outdoors, I can’t think of things I don’t like yet, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and neutered. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
