e lab mix who recently came to the shelter when my family fell on hard times and couldn’t keep me. I’m a little new here, but I’m already showing everyone what a fun and lovable guy I am! You might notice my gorgeous chocolate-colored coat and striking blue eyes right away! I do tend to turn a few heads, but my personality is just as irresistible. I’m a high-energy, happy pup who loves being around people and brings playful, joyful vibes wherever I go. I’m super social and love hanging out in the office, especially when I can politely ask for pets (okay… sometimes enthusiastically ask). Toys are my favorite and KONG wobblers and balls are at the top of my list! I greet everyone who comes into my space with warmth, tail wags, and big smiles. I already know some basic obedience commands, and I really want to please my people. Since I’m still settling in, the shelter is continuing to learn more about how I do with other animals but one thing’s for sure: I’m a fun little guy with tons of potential. I’m looking for an active home that’s ready to help me learn, grow, and go on lots of adventures together. If you’re searching for a playful, loving companion with a big heart and even bigger personality, I might just be your perfect match. Come meet me today! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes: - initial canine distemper combination vaccination - first worming or stool check - rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age) - 24 Petwatch microchipping - flea treatment/preventative - spaying or neutering -heartworm testing Adoption fee: $135.00 Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20) Leash and collar included

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
