, a bright, playful young herding breed (Australian Shepherd / Border Collie best guess) mix with a heart full of love and a zest for life! Just over a year old and weighing 29 pounds, Luci has that wonderful “forever puppy” energy that keeps life fun and active. She thrives on movement and interaction, whether she’s happily chasing other dogs in true herder fashion, splashing in the water, tossing around her toys, or heading out on a new adventure with her people. At the same time, she has a wonderfully soft side and absolutely adores snuggling up with her humans when playtime winds down. Luci’s affectionate nature is one of her most endearing traits. She loves being close to her people and enjoys quality cuddle time just as much as a good game of chase. She is very food motivated and already sits beautifully, with “down” coming along as she continues learning, making her a great candidate for further training. She has had no accidents in the house so far and has proven to be a polite pup who only chews on her toys. When it’s time to settle, she will follow a treat into her crate, voice a brief protest, and then relax quietly. This sweet girl gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, birds, kids, and adults alike. She truly seems to love everyone she meets and brings a joyful, friendly energy wherever she goes. On leash, Luci is still learning her manners and can get excited by squirrels, friendly humans, and interesting sticks along the way, and wants to bark at anything with wheels going by, but her eagerness and intelligence make her progress something to look forward to. She rides in the car wanting to stay close to her person, offering a little whining but plenty of companionship. She is healthy, happy and she brings with her all the best qualities of a young, well-adjusted pup. Luci will shine brightest in an active home that can keep up with her playful spirit and herding breed energy. If you’re looking for a sweet, energetic companion who will keep you moving, make you laugh, and curl up with you at the end of the day, Luci is ready to be your new best friend. Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: aarf-tn/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: aarf-tn/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) aarf-tn/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
