wn at 45 pounds, making her a medium-sized dog (30 to 50 pounds). And take a gander at those at attention ears and soulful eyes. She can be shy at first, taking her time to feel safe with new people and unfamiliar places, but once she trusts you, her sweetness shines through in the most tender ways. Dua Lipa will need a calm environment and a gentle approach with her forever family to allow her time and space to get comfortable and confident with new surroundings. Sometimes having another calm and confident canine in the family can be a great source of comfort and confidence for shy dogs like Dua Lipa. She is good with other dogs with calm interactions, and she is good with children as well. It is not known how she will be with cats since she has not been exposed to a cat since coming into rescue. Dua Lipa is learning about her crate training. We do know she is a fan of treats. Treats are one of her love languages, and they are a wonderful way to help her build confidence, form positive associations and as a training tool. She is in the master class when it comes to learning her house and leash training. She has both down pat. It is important to remember that although, Dua Lipa is housetrained, accidents can still occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Dua Lipa is searching for a patient, peaceful home where she can blossom at her own pace. With kindness, consistency, and a little encouragement, she will show you just how much love her name promises. If you are looking for a quiet companion with a big heart, Dua Lipa may be the perfect match. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Dua Lipa is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
