t his pet-friendly housing with the sale of the building and surrendered his big/little man out of love. Wookiee is a low ridin’ superstar and a walking carpet of L.O.V.E.! What he lacks in true Wookiee height, he makes up for in larger-than-life personality and girth to spare! And his so-adorable-we’re-not-sure-how-it's-even-legal underbite is perfectly asymmetrical for extra whimsy and charm and sure to turn heads wherever he goes. Wookiee is a typical social puppy who loves to be close to the action and snuggle. He is a happy-go-lucky man who has the best tail wagging range of motion we have ever seen, slapping the sides of his body with every wag. And his noises…bulldog perfection (IYKYK)! Our vertically-challenged man is a 65-lb super chunk and covered in beautiful tri-color shades of furry brown. He also purrs like a kitten, has a tender heart, and is extra squish-tastic. We call him Chewbacca or Chewie because he loves to chew on nylabones (and snacks!) with gusto. He is wonderfully quiet in the car…we’re guessing he learned his co-pilot skills aboard the Millennium Falcon. And in typical Wookiee fashion, our man values honor and friendship above all else. He would make an excellent companion for a family looking for love. Wookiee is currently living in a home with dogs and cats and making himself right at home. He was reported to be great with dogs and ignore dog-savvy cats in his last home. Adopters will need to understand the breed and what owning a bulldog mix entails. The extreme features that make Wookiee ridiculously handsome require some extra attention. Adorable wrinkles require some additional cleaning and care. That squishy and ginormous face can mean breathing difficulty with exercise or quickly overheating in the sun. And his stocky frame means he could sink like a bowling ball in water. Due to his size, strength, and lack of history, older or no kids would be best for this sturdy goofball! Wookiee’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who wants an amazing companion dog, and who doesn’t mind a few (or more) snores. Wookiee will remain fiercely loyal to the Galactic Republic, and his forever family! 2. A family who isn’t fussy about a little drool amongst friends, particularly at the water bowl or at treat time. 3. A family who is aware of the potential medical costs associated with bulldogs of any type and is willing to care for Wookiee for all of his days. Pet insurance is highly recommended.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
