w it was my lucky day when they came for me, and things got even better when I went to stay in a loving foster home! I’ve enjoyed soaking up the love and attention there and can’t wait to do so in a home of my very own! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, and I became phenomenally fast friends with the big dog who lives in my foster home. I love to snuggle with her and walk next to her as well as run in the yard together. I also give her kisses and I respect her too. I’d love another doggie friend in my new home so If you have a nice dog that would like a puppy friend, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids in my foster home, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me or that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet, friendly and playful guy who is quite calm for a puppy. I have a ‘go with the flow’ nature – easily settling down in my bed, playing with my toys or taking a nap. I’m loyal to my people and enjoy being where they are. As a young, curious puppy, I can have a mischievous streak, so keep an eye on shoes and slippers – lol. I seem to be gaining confidence from spending time around the dog in my foster home – she is the best! I walk proudly next to her on my walks and am becoming a great future companion to a lucky family. My fosters say having me in their home has ‘been a pleasure’, and I bet you will agree once I am yours! I even did well for my bath and didn’t mind some puppy clothes during the cold weather. / My energy level is 3-5, though this could change as I grow. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’ command, and my foster is working with me on ‘stay’ and ‘leave it’ currently. I know that ‘down’ means - off the couch, and I comply. I also have good dinnertime manners, as I sit and wait patiently for my food bowl to be put down for me. I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy - so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / I sleep in a crate in my foster home and have kept it clean so far. I’ve also done well in there when I was left for a few hours when my foster had to leave home. I resist going in at times, and my foster has found that going in backside first helps me not to be as anxious – I’m sure I’ll continue to improve with practice. / My potty habits are a work in progress as I’m just a baby, but I am getting the hang of it! I’ve had no nighttime accidents in my foster home, and the accidents are getting fewer every day. Please keep me on a consistent schedule so I can master my potty skills as I’m a baby and still learning. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love a variety of toys including rope toys, as well as the squeaky ones – and I haven’t destroyed them looking for the squeaker either! When I’m not playing, I think snuggles and belly rubs are FANTASTIC! / A social pup, I don’t care to be alone too much, and I wasn’t a fan of car rides, though I’m already improving! Otherwise, I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and neutered. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
