em. Please visit aarf-tn/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply. Meet Remington, affectionately known as Remi, a joyful little “teddy bear” pup who is always ready to be your very best friend. Remi is a 1 yr old Shih Tzu–Bichon Frise mix weighing around 14 pounds, and she has mastered the art of being both playful and perfectly cuddly. Remi adores being with her people and will happily follow you from room to room just to make sure she knows where you are. When she’s in the mood to play, she’ll proudly bring you her toys and give you a gentle nudge to let you know it’s game time. She loves playing ball, even if she’s not quite ready to give it back, and if you ask her to “go get your ball,” she’ll thoughtfully dig through her toy collection to choose the perfect one. When things are quiet, Remi is just as content hopping up on the couch to snuggle beside you while you read or relax. If peanut butter is involved, you can bet she’ll be right there, hoping for a little taste of her favorite treat. Remi is fully house trained and enjoys the freedom of a doggy door, responsibly letting herself in and out as needed. She had crate training as a puppy and still chooses her crate for naps now and then, making her comfortable with the idea of one in her new home. She knows several commands, including sit, come, high five, and fetch, and she’s eager to please, especially when fun or food is involved. An adventurous little soul, Remi loves going on walks and hikes and has happily joined her family on hikes up to three miles. She’s also a fantastic travel companion, having completed multiple long road trips with ease and enthusiasm. Whether riding in the car, camping with friends, or watching the world go by, Remi takes it all in stride. At home, she’ll keep you laughing with her curiosity, popping up on her hind legs to watch cows or deer go by, or adorably growling at a ball that’s rolled just out of reach until someone rescues it for her. Remi does wonderfully with children and has endless patience and energy for playtime, happily wrestling and playing until she’s completely tuckered out. She enjoys other dogs as well and thrives on social interaction. Her ideal home would be one where someone is home most of the time, as she truly loves companionship and being part of daily life. A securely fenced yard would be a dream come true for her, giving her space to zoom around and enjoy the outdoors. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal, and endlessly entertaining companion who will fill your days with laughter, cuddles, and unconditional love, Remi is ready to be your new best friend. Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: aarf-tn/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: aarf-tn/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) aarf-tn/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
