ces in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 10/27/25 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray in NC - Zaire was heavily pregnant and delivered her first babies on the transport to the poodle farm Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes, Zaire is spayed, up to date on vaccines and has a negative heartworm test. Our best guess is that she is an Australian Shepherd with some doodle mixed in. Only a DNA test will tell. She is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Zaire is an escape artist and cannot be left alone or unattended, ever. Weight: 67 lb Height: 24in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes, Adoption Fee: 699$ Fence needed? Yes, but it must be properly reinforced. Zaire can never be left unattended in your yard. She must always be supervised. She is an escape artist, and she will try to get out if left alone. What kind of home would be best for me? Zaire comes with some very important quirks that her future family must be fully prepared for. Zaire is not a beginner dog. She needs a confident, attentive home that understands her instincts, takes containment seriously, and is committed to keeping her safe. Zaire is an exceptional escape artist with an extremely strong desire to roam. She will attempt to leave her home environment no matter how loving or enriching it is - not out of unhappiness, but because wandering is deeply wired into her. She can defeat wire crates, open doors, pop gate latches, push through fencing, shift panels, and occasionally dig her way out if given the opportunity. Because of this, she requires serious containment - secure fencing, reinforced gates, vigilant door management, and supervision. A tracking collar is strongly recommended for her. Zaire is also strong and assertive with her body, especially when it comes to slipping past legs and through openings. For this reason, she is not a good match for unsteady individuals or young children. While she may be okay in a home with children, caution is advised - kids tend to move in and out frequently, leave doors ajar, or may struggle to physically manage her when she decides it’s time to make an escape. Zaire is friendly and playful with other dogs of all sizes but does not require another dog in the home to be happy, though another dog may help to keep her around. She sheds and would not be suitable for anyone with allergies. She is also vocal - she talks, howls, and expresses herself regularly - so she would not be a good fit for apartments, condos, or homes with shared walls. Exercise-wise, Zaire is fairly mellow and does not need excessive physical activity, but she would absolutely enjoy adventures with the right equipment. A secure harness and a non-slip collar (such as a martingale) are essential, as she can easily back out of standard collars. What is my personality like? Zaire is a sweet, friendly girl who is always happy to see you, but she’s not overly pushy or demanding for affection. She enjoys connection on her own terms and has a playful, social personality that makes her fun to be around. She’s generally mellow and easygoing, but sometimes she gets the zoomies and LOVES to run around in a big open yard. She enjoys playing with other dogs and would love the dog park, or doggy daycare. She is great with puppies and smaller dogs. She absolutely thrives on human love and affection and will sit by you all day if you just commit to petting her. She loves food and is very food motivated. How do I act when I first meet new people? Zaire has never met a stranger in her life. For the right person—someone who values vigilance, structure, and preparation—Ziare can be a loyal, entertaining, and deeply engaging companion with a big personality and a love for life. Other tips and tidbits: Zaire was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on her pre-rescue. Based on her overall health and condition she was estimated at 2.5 years old when she arrived in rescue. We celebrate her birthday 07/12/23 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
