o are perfect for the right someone. Our goal is to match each dog with the home that fits them best and each home with the dog that will sing to your heart. Ready to adopt? Complete an application at .carolinapoodlerescue/application Date into Rescue: 10/27/25 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray in NC - Zaire was heavily pregnant and delivered her babies on the transport to the poodle farm Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes, Zaire is spayed, up to date on vaccines and has a negative heartworm test. Our best guess is that she is an Australian Shepherd with some poodle mixed in. Only a DNA test will tell. She is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Weight: 67 lb Height: 24 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes, Adoption Fee: 699$ Fence needed? No - they don't work for her. Zaire is a free spirit who is looking to be by your side, not in your yard. That is all she wants- your company. If you need to leave her, leave her inside safely in her safe space (crate). What kind of home would be best for me? Interested in Zaire? Text ZAIRE to 864-441-9075 for more info, photos, and videos. Zaire – Escape Artist Extraordinaire What is my personality like? Zaire is a 2.5-year-old, 67 lb Australian Shepherd/doodle mix who is playful, sweet, and food-motivated. She is not a beginner dog—and she is a lot of dog but she's a dog who wants to give you her whole heart and expects the same. She’s friendly with other dogs, enjoys zoomies and adventures, and thrives on affection. How do I act when I first meet new people? Zaire has never met a stranger in her life. For the right person—someone who values vigilance, structure, and preparation—Ziare will be a loyal, entertaining, and deeply engaging companion with a big personality and a love for life. Other tips and tidbits: Zaire was found as a stray. Based on her overall health and condition she was estimated at 2.5 years old when she arrived in rescue. We celebrate her birthday 07/12/23 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
