erweight. Buddy is a big, strong, healthy, active, fun-loving boy who is excited about life! Buddy takes joy in the "small things," like TOYS, TOYS, TOYS, and balls, and sticks, whatever! In fact if you could make a movie about Buddy's life, it could be called, "Toys! Toys! Toys," simliar to the 1962 Elvis movie "Girls! Girls! Girls!" Buddy is always up for a good time, absolutely loves to go the dog park (daily) and he just always has a hope in his heart that you want to play games as much as he does! (Fetch and pull games). Buddy is smart and he would make a good watchdog in the sense that he is alert and has a nice loud bark, but he is not an incessant barker or anything like that. He loves to hang outside, can spend time on his own out in the yard, just enjoying his toys, the sun, watching other people or cars go by, he just really enjoys being outside. Buddy can be very calm and great in the house, he settles well once he realizes you can't play with him or you have to do your work. He is a great companion, never too far away, chilling on a dog bed or a big rug. Buddy has a sweet temperament, and is definitely action oriented, ready to go ride or die kind of guy! We are seeking a home for Buddy with a fenced in yard, someone who is very active and understand the active needs of a young, big dog. Looking for dog park people, as Buddy just thrives in this activity, and/or someone that has a lot of land, and can be outside with him a lot and get him the activity and action he craves. (And then again, once he's been active, he chills very well). Buddy is crated trained, great with other dogs, people. It seems like Buddy could be good with cats, but gets excited to greet them, so they tend to run away. Buddy is too exuberant for a home with small children, but older children may be OK. He is very loving and excited about life. If you would like to learn more about Buddy, please submit an interest form on our website: redemptionroadrescue.rescuegroups/forms/ If you are viewing this listing on PETFINDER there is often MORE INFO ON and MORE PICS OF the animal DIRECTLY ON OUR WEBSITE. redemptionroadrescue.rescuegroups redemptionroad.mngmail .facebook/RedemptionRoadRescue All animals fully vetted appropriate for age: spayed/neutered, rabies vaccine, DHLPP vaccine, 4DX test (8 months or older), microchipped with lifetime registration, dewormed, flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention. *Since we typically don't know a rescue dogs actual genetics, their breed and estimated size when grown on their bio is just an educated guess based on information and observations we have.*

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
