kennel incessantly, stressed beyond belief.
MAD saw his video, heard the shelters plea, and knew Peace was destined to be a MAD dog. Unfortunately, Peace’s jailbreak was just the beginning of his rocky road journey. Peace had developed an upper respiratory infection which had progressed into pneumonia. Recovery was hard, but he pulled through! Now his next hurdle is to beat heartworms.
Peace will soon begin his HW treatment, but his personality has already begun to shine! He is incredibly sweet and affectionate with every person he meets. He will come right up and lean on you for pets and loves nuzzling his head under your arm. But once the petting stops, he’s just as happy to go do his own thing, usually laying on a dog bed in the sun with a toy to chew on and toss around.
Peace can be crated/kenneled if needed, but it does stress him out and often leads to the spinning/tail chasing behavior when kenneled for extended periods. That being said, Peace is 100% house trained and has never had an accident in the home or crate since being fostered. He is also non-destructive and can be left loose in the home if he is the only dog, or confined to a bedroom. He has been in a guest room with bedding, blankets, pillow, stuffed animals, etcetera and hasn’t damaged anything. He doesn’t scratch doors or damage molding, furniture, or anything else. Truly a miracle for a malinois fresh out of the shelter!
Peace loves going for walks and is learning to walk well on a leash. He shows zero reactivity to humans and cars, but does react to large, loud trucks (looking at you garbage truck!!) and some dogs if they are at a close distance.
Peace has been coexisting calmly with other dogs in his foster’s home with a lot of structure. He could potentially do well with another dog in the home with slow introductions. But he would, most likely, be happiest as the only dog in the home.
If you’re looking for a ride-or-die best friend to share your life with, consider adopting Peace!
All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and six month subscription.
