hat’s bigger: his ears, his oversized puppy paws, or his loving heart. Rubble is the kind of puppy who wakes up happy, goes through the day happy, and falls asleep happy. Life, according to Rubble, is meant to be enjoyed. Rubble is a friendly, affectionate boy who loves being around people and soaking up attention. Whether it’s playtime, exploring the yard, or simply leaning in for pets, he is always ready to be part of whatever you’re doing. His easygoing personality makes him a wonderful companion, and he does great with kids, other dogs big and small, and even tries to win over the resident cats in his foster home - he wants to be friends, they do not ;) Like any young pup, Rubble is working hard on his potty training and learning the routines of home life. He has not had any accidents in the house for weeks, and he even barks or whines when he goes outside. Rubble is also fully crate trained - sleeping quietly throughout the night. Rubble is learning his manners, too! So far, he knows "sit," "down," and "nose," and he's learning new things every day. He walks great on a leash and does amazingly well during busy public outings to stores like Scheels, Cabela's, and Home Depot. He especially loves the attention he gets from both employees and shoppers! Rubble also LOVES to be outside and "solar charges" on the patio whenever it is sunny. For a pup his age and size, he's quite lazy; after a quick romp in the yard, he is absolutely content to nap on the patio couch whenever we are outside. Inside Rubble would love nothing more than to snuggle on the couch with you. More than anything, Rubble is simply a joyful, affectionate puppy who wants a family to grow up with - people to love, adventures to share, and a cozy place to call home. If you’re looking for a sweet, happy pup who will fill your days with affection and laughter, Rubble might be the perfect match. This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog. Please read all adoption steps and policies carefully on our website. dobermanrescueminnesota/adoption-steps/ Qualified adopters are within the approved adoption area, and Adopter will be requested to visit this foster dog at the foster family home. Our foster families are generally located within a 250 mile radius of Minneapolis, MN. All DRM dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, health checked, microchipped, 4DX tested, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
