ed puppies who came to Mostly Mutts along with my mom and siblings when I was about 3 weeks old, thanks to a kind person who helped all of us get here safely. I’ve been growing and thriving in a wonderful foster home, and now I’m excited because it’s time for me to find a loving family of my own – one where I can enjoy lots of fun and love furever! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I love my siblings and play well with the adult dog in my foster home, too, so if you have a nice dog that would like a puppy friend, let’s meet! / I’m curious about the cat in my foster home, who is very dog friendly. When I try to check her out, she sometimes gives me a little swat to remind me about personal space, and I respect that and go about my business. / I haven’t met kids in my foster home, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me and remember I’m in the mouthy phase of puppyhood so it’s helpful to have plenty of toys to trade so I can chew on those instead of nibbling on fingers. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a cute little pup with lots of personality and plenty of puppy energy. I love being near my people and enjoy being part of whatever you’re doing, though I’m also quite an independent little explorer and Houdini like in that I can escape the kitchen enclosure – lol. I’m pretty vocal at times, so I’d probably do best in a house rather than an apartment or condo setting. I play hard, zoom around investigating everything, and then crash for a good puppy nap. I’m starting to enjoy being held and cuddled for a little while, but after a bit, I’m usually ready to be put down so I can explore and run around again. / Energy level: currently 6-8, though this could change as I grow up. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy – so get ready for some training with your new best friend. Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so let’s do some training together. / I tend to howl and cry when left alone, but eventually settle down and go to sleep with the sibling I’m fostered with. I’m sure with time, a good routine and training, I’ll settle in. / My potty training is coming along nicely. I’m just a baby, but when taken out regularly, I do both #1 and #2 outside. Of course, I’m at the beginning of this training, so I’ll need my family to be very consistent on a good schedule. Inside I’m pretty good at hitting a potty pad – the washable kind as I tear up the disposable ones – they just look like something to be played with to me! • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love treats, toys, mealtimes, playing, and taking cozy naps. As I grow, I’m sure we’ll discover lots of other fun things we’ll enjoy doing together! / Other than being alone too much, I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
