** Bebop has been diagnosed with suspect Cerebellar Hypoplasia
Cerebellar hypoplasia in dogs is a condition characterized by the inadequate development of the cerebellum. Since the cerebellum is responsible for fine-tuning motor movements, affected pets will be unable to move or even stand still normally. In dogs Cerebellar hypoplasia is typically a hereditary disease.
Typically this disease is not degenerative, meaning that the severity of the symptoms shown are unlikely to become more severe. Bebop retains enough coordination and control over their movements to perform basic functions, she should live a good quality of life. While there is no cure or treatment for this condition, they learn to compensate for their condition and go on to live a long, happy, and pain free life. Poor coordination means these dogs may require additional attention, however they can be happy, loving companions.
Bebop is ready to dance into your heart!

6/1/26 Foster Feedback::Bebop has been on a kennel break with us from the shelter so she could attend some adoption events this weekend. She did a wonderful job at the events and loved meeting all the people who stopped to give her pets and treats. She is a special girl who loves to be near or on her people.
Bebop has been kenneling well while we have left the house for a few hours and also kenneling well at nighttime while everyone is asleep. Since she is new to our home and routine, she has done a couple circles in her kennel before she settles in for a nap but it's only been a few minutes and has not been loud or barky.
Bebop has had no potty accidents in the house and she is learning to indicate when she needs to go out by going to either the patio door or our front door down the stairs.
Bebop has been doing well on our carpeted stairs in our bi-level home, going down in a slower manner but will at times jump, skipping a few steps, when going up. She is also doing great going up our deck steps, where she goes both up and down slowly.
Bebop is also doing well co-existing with our neighbor dogs with our 4 ft chain link fence. While she will give off some protective barks randomly at dogs or people across the street, it is short lived where she can be redirected with a simple treat or called to go inside.
Bebop also walks really well, where most of the walk is a loose leash walk when it's just her and her person. She will pull if there is dog jumping/barking coming at her, however she has been easy to redirect with treats. She has done multiple pack walks with volunteers while at the shelter, where we have been working on her learning to ignore other dogs with big personalities.
Bebop is highly treat motivated and has been doing well sitting before she eats her meals or snacks. She loves to chew on a good bone throughout the day. She has not counter surfed and when you are cooking she will either follow you around while you cook or lay and watch you cook. Same with eating supper. While sitting at the table, Bebop will sit and may stare at you but then just lay down once she realizes there will be no food sharing.
When Bebop is super excited, that is when her coordination is mostly affected and while her balance is off, this girl is a smart lady who is doing well with basic commands.
This pretty lady deserves the world.
5/5/2026 Volunteer Feedback: Put simply—I ADORE this very special young dog. Bebop is just the most gentle and loving soul who wants nothing more than to be as close to you as possible, but without being pushy or annoying. She is truly a very special snowflake in that she has a neurological impairment that seems to mostly affect her close vision/depth perception…and that causes a quirky gait while walking. But rest assured, these neurological symptoms do not keep her from enjoying a normal life in the least.
Bebop and I have been attending adoption events and she is always so happy to meet everyone. Sadly, she is still waiting for a foster and living at the shelter, so we haven’t known how she behaves in a home. I finally had an opportunity to take her for a two night stay at our lake cabin…and now I’m able to tell you she was almost perfect!!
Bebop loves to play with toys and can amuse herself nicely. When I was busy cleaning she played, took a nap or just calmly watched me from her kennel. When I read or watched tv she would check in for some cuddles and pets, but then go play with one of her squeaky toys or gnaw on a bone. Bebop had zero accidents, kenneled quietly all night, has mastered the sit command, rides quietly in a vehicle and walks with a minimum of pulling. With her vision, a home with a fenced yard would be a real plus for Bebop so she can be free to explore and use up some energy. She wants to celebrate doing her successful pottying with the zoomies and on leash that isn’t easy! I also think a home on one level or with minimal steps would be good. She had no trouble going down a few steps to the grass at the lake…but I know negotiating the steep steps in our older two story in town would be dangerous for her.
Bebop has successfully met some dogs and has been participating in some pack walks…but her inability to read other dogs cues or bumping into them can be off putting. She would thrive best as an only pet or with a tolerant and easy going resident pet. Living at the shelter is very stressful, confining and I am sure confusing for sweet Bebop; and I am so hopeful if you are reading this you might consider adopting or even fostering her. She has been good with all ages of kids, but because she might inadvertently knock over toddlers, I think middle elementary age or older would be best. I am in my early 70’s and I also think Bebop would be a great companion for a retired person! She is so sweet and gentle…if you look into her eyes on her pictures I know you will see it too!
3/24/2026 Volunteer Feedback: Bebop is a truly special girl with the sweetest spirit. She is easy‑going and affectionate; she’s the kind of dog who fits effortlessly into almost any home. Her favorite place to be is right beside her people, soaking up love and offering it right back.
Bebop does have a bit of wobble to her step, similar to a young puppy finding their balance. She may lose her footing here and there, but she always catches herself and continues on without missing a beat. Her unsteady gait doesn’t hold her back from enjoying life: she eats, drinks, stands, and goes on walks just like any other dog. She simply appreciates a little extra time to navigate new environments.
Bebop loves her walks, enjoys a good game of fetch, and thrives on human connection. Whether you’re heading out to explore nature or settling in for a quiet day at home, Bebop is happiest just being with her person. Bebop is more than ready to find a family who will adore her as much as she’ll adore them. She has so much love to give and deserves a home where she can feel safe, cherished, and included in everyday life.
