nowing sit, paw, stay, down, and "no." He even stays in place when served food until released. He loves people, gets along great with other dogs, and even showed polite curiosity toward cats, though he hasn’t lived with them yet.
Mr. Tux was saved at the literal 11th hour because he was struggling to settle into the kennel environment while in Georgia. He was losing weight, stressed, and clearly unhappy though he never showed an ounce of aggression. Down South, the reality for so many dogs is being the first on the euthanasia list if you cannot live in a shelter environment due to overcrowding. Hearing his story, we had to step in and now, Mr. Tux is safe in NJ with a foster family who adores him and says he quickly fell into the routine and rules of the home. Mr. Tux is crate-trained and house-trained; even alerting you with a noseboop to the door handle or a bark if he needs to go outdoors. He enjoys all the good things in life—cuddling, sunbathing, playing with toys (though stuffies are no match for him), fetching balls, and heading out on adventures. He can be energetic, so we do recommend a family who has a fenced in yard, so he has the perfect place to burn off energy. Though by the end of the day, he's ready to stretch out and take up his fair share of the couch while lounging on your lap! While well-meaning, Mr. Tux is a strong guy and does not seem to be aware of his size. He also loves to give hugs and kisses. Because of this, we recommend a household with only adults or older children only.
Mr. Tux is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines—ready to start his new life with a family who will love him forever. His adoption fee is $415. For an affectionate lovebug of a dog, apply for MR. TUX ATHENS at EHRDOGS.ORG.
