and I have been spending time in a great foster home! I am enjoying my time here, and they love me, so that sounds like a good preview of the great home that awaits me! My future family and I – making each other happy! I’m now available for adoption, so plan to meet me soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I get along fabulously with the two Goldendoodles that live in my foster home. I’m a playful pup, and we all play very well together, as well as enjoy lots of snuggling together. I also liked the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts. So, if you have a nice doggie that would like a puppy friend, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / There is a 6-year-old in my foster home, and we are good buddies. We play, play, play – and I love it! So, if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My foster describes me as full of sweetness and cuddles – ready and waiting to give and receive affection because I’m so glad to see you. I’m happy and sociable mixed in with a bit of mischievous puppy play as I will pick up anything I think is a toy … so keep an eye on those shoes, toys, socks, etc. – lol. We are sure to have great adventures together as I grow because I do like exploring and hanging out with my people, so let’s get started! / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: In my foster home, I am working on the ‘sit’ and ‘leave it’ commands and at the shelter I showed that I knew the ‘come’ command. I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog so get ready for some training with your new best friend. Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so let’s continue my training together. / I have good crate manners in my foster home and sleep well there. I may whine at first if you put me in it to leave for a bit, but I settle down nicely. Sometimes, when I need a nap or some rest time, I voluntarily go there to catch some zzzs or relax. / My potty habits are coming along. I’ve had very few accidents in my foster home, and I am learning to give signals for when I need to go out. Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I absolutely love toys – tennis balls were my favorite at the shelter! With stuffed toys, I will toss them to myself to play (so cute) and will carry them so gently while on walks – the bigger the better. I could be a professional cuddler with people and dog friends … when not playing, of course! / I’m not crazy about going down the stairs, but I am being brave and tackling it a little at a time in my foster home. I’m not a big eater but rather like to graze. I can’t think of anything else I don’t like yet, though like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and neutered. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
